An intimate glance into our seniors' life stories
Faces of Richmond is an exhibition featuring the rich experiences and wisdom of seniors in our community. Through portraits created in different mediums by volunteer artists, and recorded interviews available for listening, this heartfelt collection fosters understanding, acceptance and compassion, and gives us an intimate glance into their life stories and legacies.
The 2026 edition, The Art of Wisdom, was our fifth annual Faces of Richmond, shown for the month of April 2026 at the Steveston Museum and Post Office (3811 Moncton Street, Richmond, BC).
Two ways to take part
Faces of Richmond brings artists and seniors together. Here is how each takes part.
For portrait artists
Volunteer artists are paired with a senior in our community. Working from a photo and a recorded interview, each artist paints a portrait, receives a free canvas and an honorarium, and the finished portrait is later gifted to the senior it celebrates.
For seniors
We invite seniors to share their memories and stories, which we record, and to have their portrait displayed in the gallery exhibition. Recent editions have celebrated seniors across our community, including members of Local 1286 of the International Association of Fire Fighters.
